We have a contract opening for an Automation Engineer in East Durham New York. This position is approved for 5 months and could be extended.

Pay Rate: $47/Hr.

support automation troubleshooting & improvement activities on filling/packaging equipment.

• Experience with troubleshooting PLCs (Allen Bradley & Siemens preferred with Siemens S5 experience a big plus)
• Experience with robotics
• Experience with troubleshooting filling and packaging equipment (IWK & IMA a plus)
• Experience with troubleshooting vision systems
• Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting
• Looking for someone that can respond tactically and troubleshoot quickly; not looking for a project manager or strategic lead (put simply -- floor focus, not office focus)
• Good relationship with vendor base (i.e. Allen Bradley, Siemens)
• Experience with electrical and machinery safety programs (i.e. LOTO & permit to work)

Job Responsibilities: High level of knowledge and experience with PLC programming (Including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Elau etc.) Maintenance and update of documentation for the above systems (diagrams, panel drawings and manuals) Management of logic controllers, software and backups Excellent computer and software skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Experience with CAD is a plus System administration of the automation control system hardware, network and software Generate detailed work orders, Technical Change Controls and Installation/Operational Qualifications Master-Electrician level industrial electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability Support engineering projects, validations activities and commissioning Drive continuous improvement, providing feedback on ways to improve safety, quality, waste and production targets. Provide timely resolution and troubleshooting of technical issues related to instrumentation and automation control systems. Ability to read and troubleshoot programming logic & make changes if required in a timely manner to ensure adherence to production demands and demonstrate flexibility regarding scheduling and changing production needs. Work to achieve set targets (safety, batches right first time, production, waste, etc.) and provide root causes for targets not achieved. Provide feedback on continuous improvement to improve safety, quality, waste and production targets. Education and Skills for Requirement: Minimum Level of Education: High school diploma or equivalent required 5+ years experience in automation manufacturing environment Demonstrated history of successful management of process flow and programmable logic control systems Experience working in an automation manufacturing environment Experience with management of logic controllers, software, backups and supplies including vendor relations, parts inventory requests and sourcing, and interdepartmental consultation Ability to analyze and correct deficiencies in the operation of high speed packaging equipment Strong problem solving and reasoning skills. Demonstrated ability to respond with troubleshooting methods under time and delivery pressure. Demonstrated ability to maintain control in stressful situations, and perform well under pressure. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. 5 years experience in a GMP compliant manufacturing facility Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances Pass pulmonary function test- wear respirator and perform duties Experience with Lean or Six Sigma tools Must be flexible with schedule and adjust to changing production needs, including weekend work and overtime. Work to achieve set targets (safety, batches right first time, production, waste, etc.) and provide root causes for targets not achieved.
