We have a contract opening for a Construction Engineer for a Project at the O'Hare Airport. This position is approved through March of 2019 and could be extended. The ideal candidate will have heavy Electrical 'Construction' experience. Power, Communication, Controls, and SCADA.

Pay Rate: $50 to $55/Hr. (Depending on experience and expertise)

Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected. 

Collaborates with field superintendents and construction management for the completion of large complex construction activities. Performs a wide variety of field engineering assignments involving the monitoring, technical evaluation of work in progress, and resolution of constructability issues at a field construction site.

Reviews and interprets design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and feasibility to perform technical execution of work. Provides resolution for technical engineering problems across disciplines and coordinates application of solutions.

Provides technical guidance to site personnel regarding installations. Ensures that all work within his/her assigned scope of responsibility is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry and quality standards. This includes ensuring that all tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures.

Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.

Monitors construction schedules and assists in progress appraisal. Provides schedule and progress appraisal data to engineering and construction management.

Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule.

Maintains a daily log for permanent record of project construction, as well as engineering data for the final project turnover and report.

Maintains construction technical catalogs, supplier data, and other literature pertaining to the project.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

4-year degree in a related engineering discipline is required. Typically, incumbents have at least 3+ years of related experience at a field construction site on self-performed design-build projects.

Requires a proficiency in engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices. Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as leadership skills. In addition, familiarity with CAD and other software packages typically associated with engineering and construction is required.

Our client is a large Government Contractor who performs may projects for various Federal, State, and Municipal entities, as well as extensive commercial work.
