Cost Estimator

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Cost Estimator for our client’s operation South of Atlanta, GA. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and great benefits. This is a fantastic opportunity to be an integral part of a team and work on some high-profile utility projects.

The Cost Estimator is responsible for improving the accuracy, comprehensiveness, and standardization of project cost estimating for corrosion services projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a timely flow of necessary information to deliver accurate estimates for the IFP/RFP process.
  • Review restoration drawings and project specifications for accuracy and clarity
  • Review field images, GoogleEarth maps, and other pertinent data to identify and communicate potential field concerns.
  • Work closely with the Material Procurement Coordinator, develop a Cost basis matrix for standard and custom materials/ coatings.
  • Work closely with Managers of Operations to develop project operational work plans that include materials management, site and equipment utilization, site specific safety, construction sequencing, and environmental controls.
  • Incorporate operational work plan into a project schedule.  Schedules to be produced in MS Project, including activity detail, resource allocation, work sequencing and resource leveling.
  • Provide customer support (internal and external) via phone, email and web as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of construction related experience with reading, interpreting and aiding in the development of project documents, including construction/repair drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with reading, interpreting and aiding in the development of project documents, including construction/repair drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of/willingness to learn welding systems/operations and equipment requirements to support heavy civil construction operations.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with other departments, disciplines and Operations personnel to complete tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to speak clearly and confidently to customers. 
  • Demonstrates self-motivational qualities and sound character
