Johnson Service Group is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for a permanent opportunity in Simi Valley, CA. 


Electrical Engineer I designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts general engineering and design of electronic systems on UASs with cross-functional development teams.
  • Perform simulation and detailed design for digital and analog circuits.
  • Drive system integration, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
  • Documents designs with engineering drawings and written descriptions.
  • Trouble-shoots systems from a hardware and software perspective.
  • Able to quickly design, build, and test prototypes.
  • Works with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links.
  • Writes software to support the integration of sensors and embedded processors.
  • Supports flight test operations, some travel may be required.
  • Design and implement circuit boards. This effort will include architecture, component selection, schematic capture, board layout, board bring-up, and documentation.
  • Performs electronic engineering support activities on R&D projects.

Required Qualifications & Background

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required due to ITAR
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1-4 years of professional experience is required or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • The familiarity of common industry protocols (LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB)
  • General Engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics, material properties.
  • Flight test or R/C (Remote Control) experience a plus, hands-on experience with tools a plus.
  • Experience in one or more areas: RF, embedded control, FPGA.
  • Familiarity with Small UAV subsystems and associated software a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills - Team Player.
  • Familiarity with office software and computer-based productivity tools.
  • Must comply with company's policies and procedures.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with power electronics, including motors and lithium batteries.
