Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently searching for a Mechanical Project/Staff Engineer to lead the design and analysis of Electro Mechanical Actuation (EMA) systems for aerospace applications.  

Background, Experience and Responsibilities:

  • 7-10+ years as a Project/Staff level Engineer, to lead innovation and technical development for Electro Mechanical Actuation (EMA) systems.
  • Will be responsible for the New Product Introduction (NPI) design, analysis, development and test for 'Platform Technologies'.
  • Experience with fine/coarse pitch gearing, rotary and linear actuation, high power no-backs, high speed ball screws, mechanical load limiters and positive locking mechanical devices.
  • Will perform mechanical and electrical system design and application of control systems, position feedback implementation, high bandwidth response, and aerospace materials selection.  
  • Determine dimensioning and tolerancing specifications.
  • Ensure designs meets manufacturability, testability and reliability criteria.
  • Ability to effectively lead a project team environment and collaborate with customers.
  • Knowledge of FEA and the use of related analysis tools and methodologies, to perform hydraulic, stress and control theory analysis. 
  • Collaborate with other senior leadership, and may direct engineers, as required.
  • Will execute Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices, within a Lean, Six Sigma environment.
  • Contribute to product design proposals with internal stakeholders, to ensure that customer requirements and specifications, as well as manufacturing/cost implications and met.
  • Implement process improvements at a senior project level.
  • Ability to successfully drive projects through the Product Lifecycle (PLC). 


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline is a plus.
