An international pharmaceutical production company expanding its state of the art facilities in Southern New Jersey is seeking a Project Engineer for a long term contract position to play a key role.

Summary:

Ability to develop and fully manage multiple capital projects of varying scopes and budgets, working independently and meeting budget and schedule requirements.

Additionally, the candidate must be able to provide direct technical support to production, environmental, chemical development, and sales/marketing groups within the facility on equipment and facility related issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop scope and requirements for capital projects, interacting with area owners as well as other affected departments. 

Develop budgets and schedules for capital projects.

Fully manage all phases of capital projects from concept to commissioning, meeting requirements within schedule and budget to fulfill needs of internal customers.

The candidate must be able to self-perform most engineering tasks for smaller projects.

Coordinate the modification of existing equipment, at production’s request.

This includes any required engineering, arranging for implementation of the work either by company’s maintenance department or contractors, and supervision of the completion of the job.

Provide support to production supervision on equipment related problems. 

Develop and execute equipment commissioning protocols on new and existing equipment.

Prepare documentation packages for equipment files. 

Develop specification packages and construction scopes.

Perform equipment research, field measurements, sizing of new equipment, supervising start-up and writing SOP’s for new equipment. 

Develop P&ID’s and other technical drawings for equipment installation or modification.

Recommend modifications required to existing equipment to accommodate new products or to optimize the manufacturing of existing products.

Represent the engineering department on the process safety review teams.

Adheres to all applicable SHE and cGMP regulations.

SUPERVISION:

Supervises maintenance and/or contractor employees required to complete engineering projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of cGMP’s and process system documentation and validation.

Knowledge of basic unit operations and available technology of process equipment in a bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Knowledge of process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process calculations for flow, mass and heat transfer and equipment arrangements.

Knowledge of OSHA and process safety management
