Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to manage development programs through design, qualification and production launch.

Position Description:

  • Lead transition of prototype/limited rate production activity from one facility to another to position for manufacturing capabilities expansion and higher rate production.
  • Manages Development programs through production launch.
  • Manages customer facing projects and programs with an objective to bring issues to successful resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Directs overall performance on the program(s), assuring that the Cost/Scope/Schedule is met and resources necessary to achieve this constraint are appropriately identified and communicated.
  • Manages the customer relationship, maintaining customer satisfaction, yet assuring that scope is managed appropriately and contract changes are secured where appropriate.
  • Develops control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken and ensures company contract commitments are met.
  • Monitors overall performance during all phases of the program(s) and develops and implements corrective action and recovery plans as required.
  • Provides monthly program updates of current situation relating to contractual milestones and problem/high risk areas (e.g., technical, cost, and schedule).
  • Provides input and direction to the program teams in areas of customer concerns, changes in scope and risk assessment.
  • Holds program kick-off meetings establishing baselines for planned cost, design, configuration and schedule.
  • Leads team(s) in identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk.
  • Interfaces directly with Operations and Manufacturing to drive qualification units through manufacturing process.

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ years project engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment or program management experience with a small to medium size commercial aerospace company.
  • BS degree, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Ability to exercise exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills is a must.
  • An understanding of AS400 MRP System is highly preferred.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills are be proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e., MS Project, Word, and Excel).
  • Certified Project / Program Management Training preferred (PgMP or PMP).
  • Experience with projects where production tooling (either composite parts or casted/machined metal parts) was developed or improved is desired.
