Real Time Operations Network Engineer

Long-term contract assignment in Chattanooga, Tennessee


- Plan, schedule, coordinate and perform work for the analysis, specification, design, development, installation, test, documentation, and maintenance of real time process monitoring/control computer systems and related technical/scientific security applications (usually the analysis and design work does not include development and specification of interfaces to process systems and equipment)

- May occasionally develop and implement custom computer software interfaces with other computer systems

- Perform work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and application of analysis and programming techniques, procedures, and standards which may include a variety of conflicting requirements or constraints and difficult coordination requirements

- Interpret, adapt and apply software quality assurance requirements and programming standards to situations which are not straight forward and for which little procedural guidance is available

- May coordinate the work of others who assist in specific assignments


- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field from an accredited college or university; OR, in lieu of a degree, equivalent education, training and experience

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the use of fundamental concepts and practices related to computer system development and security maintenance; the analysis, specification, development, modification, maintenance, testing, and documentation of computer systems and software used in process monitoring/control systems and technical/scientific software applications related to power generation; and technical writing

- Solid understanding of Cisco technologies such as Nexus/ASR/CGR

- Ability to obtain and maintain ADP-1 security clearance

- Ability and willingness to assume on-call rotational assignments which may include 24/7 availability

- Ability to travel when required to carry out project work

- Ability and willingness to relocate (if necessary) to ensure a maximum of 1/2 hour response time to the system operations center and the regional operations center in Chattanooga, Tennessee


- Strong background in scale automation

- Exposure to embedded power devices such as Relays, RTUs and PLCs

- Membership in professional technical societies
